Who is Greg? And why does CAYA dedicate Thanksgiving to him?

Greg was my friend. He was also a shining example of what CAYA is and does.
When he first came to us, he was homeless and broken. He was addicted to drugs and the lifestyle that his
addiction brought. But after several months he was ready to put that aside and live the life that he truly
wanted. It takes a lot to realize that what you are doing is truly NOT what you want.
He entered rehab and graduated on 7/7/07. I was able to reunite his loved ones with the
son/brother/uncle/cousin/nephew etc, that they all knew and loved. He had a job, a place to call his own. He
loved his life. He was a beautiful visual for the rest of the Homeless community to see. I loved him as I love
my own son.
Greg died in his sleep just weeks before his 50th birthday. We celebrated his life together on November 13, a
perfect day to remember his life, Truly, his new Birthday. As we all know that to be absent from this body
is to be present with the Lord.
His loving family gave me a large donation. I felt it only right, to spend this money on the Thanksgiving
Celebration to take place on November 20th.
Greg gets to feed hundreds on this day.
